The Mediterranean town of Sete is built on and around Mont St – Clair ( a small mountain 175 metres high ). To one side of the town is a large lagoon and to the other the Mediterranean sea. The locals call their town the “Venice of the Languedoc” (several canals criss-cross the town ) and it’s also the largest fishing port on the french Mediterranean coast.

It’s a thriving town with lots of fine restaurants serving the “catch of the day”, copious amounts of cafes and bars and great shopping areas, several open air markets are held each week and in the centre of the town is an indoor market selling local produce six days a week.

One of the town’s main attractions is it’s beautiful sandy beach which stretches for miles and is a magnet for sea and sun worshippers. The area is a popular destination for tourists.

Types of Properties in Sete:

If you approach the town from the city of Agde, you will arrive in the “newer section” here you will find many modern apartment complexes, villas and houses. In the older part of the town you will find terraced properties 3 to 5 levels high, a lot of these houses have been converted into apartments. There are also lots of villas and houses adorning the slopes of Mont St-Clair, some with stunning views.
